Spicy Seafood Linguine

Red-pepper flakes add pizzazz to this fresh tomato sauce, the base for steamed mussels and clams. Be sure to serve with bread to sop up the flavorful sauce.

Directions

Prepare the linguine according to package directions.

Meanwhile, melt the butter in a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Add the shallots and garlic and cook, stirring often, for 2 minutes, or until soft. Add the clam juice, wine, tomatoes, sage, and red-pepper flakes. Bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 1 minute.

Add the clams and mussels. Cover and simmer for 5 to 10 minutes, or until the clams and mussels open. Discard any unopened clams or mussels.

Place the cooked pasta in a serving bowl. Top with the seafood mixture.
Recipe Tips
To avoid getting grit in your sauce, scrub the clams and mussels under cold running water before you cook them. To remove mussels' beards, simply pull the dark thread out or cut it off.
